How to create a capsule wardrobe
and why it will change your life
Ever felt wardrobe-envy?
Still use shopping as a way to jolt yourself out of a bad mood?
Have a closet full of clothes that contribute nothing to your style or your needs?
You are not alone.
Recent research by Marks & Spencer (2016) reveals there are 3.6 billion clothes left unworn in UK wardrobes – 57 items per person. With that, half of the nation admits to experiencing regular ‘wardrobe rage’ – irrational outbursts directed at clothes when “there is nothing to wear”.
Fashion stylist Bay Garnett says a carefully curated wardrobe is the answer. "We all need a regular closet detox: it helps us to not only easily choose what to wear, but also clear our mind. Few staple items that work season after season, together and alone, is all that is required to provide us with relief in times of sartorial need.”
What is capsule wardrobe?
Capsule is a mini wardrobe of 30 or so versatile pieces that you absolutely love to wear.
How will it change your life?
Minimal and versatile capsule wardrobe means less time is spent on shopping, washing, and choosing what to wear. It also means more time to focus on the things that really matter.

CLEAN OUT YOUR CLOSET
Count what you have and divide into three piles: keep, hold, donate. Donate what you haven’t used.
DESIGN YOUR DREAM WARDROBE
Is there anything you don’t have to complete or make a few more outfits? Make a list of 10 desired items, buy them in one go, and stop shopping for 3 months. Use this time to plan your next capsule.
